Feisty little guys here ...I can offer a little advise...When Chanel was small...then now with Cheri - I put them between my knees and say firmly "Stay" and usually start brushing slowely and letting them feel good for a few minutes...just trying to relax them first with the brush rather than grooming - then little by little I work around to doing a bow - Cheri will usually will be really calm by then ..I started her with bows around 4 months old

Make sure the bows are not too tight - if they paw and try to get it off - hair may be getting pulled - it could be just a few strandss or it's too tight in general - I always move or wiggle the topknot and make sure there's a little give ...if if feels to tight - loosen the elastic by moving it away from their head - It takes LOTS of practice - I'm no pro but I do both my girls everyday and my youngest is NOT fond of me brushing her hair yet.
