Mine chews rugs too - and, he isn't even much of a chewer. He has chewed the binding off a very large area rug that I have in my front room.
I have an off-white rug and have seriously though about sprinkling some "white pepper" along the edge. I don't want to hurt him - but my rug cost $1800 and it's going to need to be replaced because of him (and then how many replacement after that!) And, I thought that if he tasted pepper only one or two times, he'd never do it again.
I'll try "bitter apple" first.
***** When people ask us how much we paid for our dogs - we should add on all the rugs they have ruined..... very expensive!!!
