I got a 50-foot piece of cotton clothesline - and walked my dog in our "huge" backyard with it. He could go 50 feet in one direction and come back and go 50 feet in the other direction. He really traveled all over the place, and the clothesline was so light, he didn't even know he was tied to it.

I use this also when I tie my pup outside occasionally. It gives him so much more freedom. He can run and play all over the place.

Plus - occasionally I just let him run dragging the clothesline behind him. He doesn't even know it's there. But the advantage is that when I want to get him, I don't even need to get near him. I can pick up the clothesline some 30 or 40 feet away from him - and I've got him! .... never have to chase him.
