Animal Smiley 036 Welcome! :)

How exciting for you! I know that when you get your little baby you will FALL IN LOVE! These little things are TOTALLY addicting! lol.

I didn't go through and read all of the replies like I should of, lol....but make SURE you get a tube of Nutri-Cal for your little one. You can get this at most pet shops. I get mine from PetSmart and it is $7.99 for a tube of it (and it will last you FOREVER since you don't have to give them all that much of it). I would recommend giving him/her a pea sized amount (just squeeze a little out onto the tip of your finger and he/she will lick it right off...THEY LOVE IT!) at night before he/she goes to bed, and any time you have to leave him/her alone by his/her self. You don't want that nasty Hypoglycemia sneaking up on you! The Nutri-Cal will keep their blood sugar up, and it also has other benifical ingreidents as well.

Putting a shirt of yours in with your baby whenever they are sleeping or are going to be left alone by themselves is also a good idea. This "comforts" them and with YOUR SCENT being on the shirt, (or sock or whatever...preferably NOT a dirty one LOL j/k), it makes them feel safe and secure, like you are right there with them

Also, it is a good idea to get him/her a blanket as when they are so little and don't weigh much, they get extremely cold. A little pair of the long-legged pajamas also work great to keep them warm...and of course they look so precious in them!!

As for the play pen, I think it's fine for when they are little...but when they start to get a little older (around 3 & 1/2 - 4 months of age) I wouldn't personally recommend keeping them in one anymore. I used mine for Stedman in the beginning when we first got him, but then stopped using it when he was around 3 & 1/2 - 4 months of age because the little turd learned how to climb out of it!! (I HAVE PROOF! See the pic below...LOL) He figured out that he could latch his little claws onto the "mesh" thats on the side of the play pen and sure enough - he pulled himself all the way up and out of the darn thing! LUCKILY, however, my husband and I were right there the very first time he did it so we caught him...WHEW! These little ones can snap their neck sooo easy, so you really have to watch them and be extremely careful. I ended up getting my little Stedman a cage (I have also posted a picture of this) that I got at PetSmart for about $39 bucks which is so much more safe in my opinion. I got him the medium sized one so that he would have a little more room to move around in there (even though they show a picture of a Yorkie on the small sized cage's box...I just feel that he is more comfortable, and has more room to move around in the medium sized cage). I bought him a BIG squishy, over-stuffed "pillow" to go in the bottom of it so that he will be much more comfortable for whenever I have to leave him alone during the day (which isn't all that much as I work at home). I got the "pillow" at PetSmart for $19.99, which is not bad at all considering it is HUGE and stuffed so full and is so comfy for him It covers the entire bottom of his cage...it is that big!! Anyway, below are pictures of both the cage AND the pillow that I bought him. Oh and of course a picture of his spoiled little butt crawling out of the play pen! LOL

All-in-all they are WONDERFUL little things and once you are owned by one your life is forever changed...FOR THE BETTER OF COURSE!!! Don't forget to post pics of your new addition as soon as you get him/her! I am SO excited for you!!!
