If the puppy doesn't have worms then I would not give it deworming medicine. I would definitely not give worming medicine routinely every month. I think you probably misunderstood your vet on that one. Since the breeder already wormed him and, if the fecal check came out normal, he should not have been given another wormer. My Yorkies aren't exposed to others and I do not worm them. I do worm the mother prior to breeding and after whelping and I do worm the puppies before they go to new homes. I also use Panacur.

Just had another thought - Are you sure your vet didn't give you a once a month pill for heartworms? Some of those also include a regular wormer. Heartworms are totally different than intestinal worms (which is what your breeder treated for). Heartworms are caused by mosquitos and, yes, you do give a pill monthly for this and it is recommended.
