When you give a rabies shot, their immune system overcomes the vaccination thereby giving them immunity. I would make sure any of my dogs were 100% healthy before giving a vaccination (especially rabies) and not overload their immune system. It is this reason why they suggest never giving the parvo combo shot with the rabies because it is just too much for the immune system to overcome. They recommend waiting at least 3 weeks in between shots to let the immune system recover first. |
