Cali was spayed during her heat since they thought she had an abdominal blockage. I had a board certified surgeon do it since Cali was going to have a liver biopsy when she was gettign spayed due to high Bile Acid tests. I asked the surgeon if it was risky to spay her during heat and she said no and that she would make a larger incision to cut down on blood loss, I don't know how that helps but she was confident Cali would be fine and she was. Soif you have confidence in your vet and they do the presurgery blood work she should be fine.
