I would highly recommend Not doing this. Others are right about leaving this to the experts, because if there are any faults you will just double up on them breeding this way. Second - going from the past history you have told us - you and your girlfriend are still in college? Breeding takes a lot of money and time. Do you have the extra cash to spend on a C-section if she needs one to save her life? Are you able to skip class to deliver the pups? Are you will to pull up those sleeves and "Get in there" to help her deliver the pups - cut cords, turn pups, etc...?
As mentioned, once you breed your male, expect him to mark is territory - around your home.
IMO - just enjoy your male and have him altered. If you mean by saying he is "in heat" since females only go in heat, he is humping - perfectly normal and doesn't mean he needs a girlfriend. What is he going to do those other 10 months of the year when she is not in heat? LOL
