Who is "you people"?
You DEFINITELY have the right to your opinion on Greenies, but I think that it was a little out-on-a-limb to say that people who use them should not have a dog. That was my point about "logic" not that you caring for other Yorkies is illogical.
I totally respect your opinion and practices of not using any product that you don't see fit for Yorkies. Conversely, however, I do not want to be told that I shouldn't own a Yorkie because of MY personal choices.
People risk their dogs lives everyday whether it be leaving them at home alone w/ food and water (they could choke) or a pee pad (they could chew it) or when a dog and his owner go for a walk -- a bigger dog may come and injure the small dog. It's all about personal choices. |
Guys, the reason I cross-posted this warning in the first place was only to give Yorkie owners the knowledge that there COULD be a problem with Greenies and to give them the option to decide for themselves whether the risks involved were worth the benefits. Yes, there are benefits to giving dogs ANY chew product but there are also dangers (the same can be said regarding the controversy over raw food diets, flea and tick repellents and annual vaccinations). The purpose of Yorkietalk is simply education, so that Yorkie lovers can make informed decisions about caring for thier dogs. Posters know that when it comes to things that to me really are about the love or exploitation of Yorkies (like certain breeding practises), I am the first to get on the soap box - but this is NOT one of those cases.
This was not intended to be "controversial" and I apologize if anyone was offended to hurt in anyway by this post. That was NOT my intention. Please - t here is no need to fight about this. Each person can decide for herself whether she will continue buying this product for her dogs.
