Hey Fellow Texan. What part of this huge state are you from. I live in Tyler County, about an hour north of Beaumont.
As for Mia's liver shunt, it really has not affected her much at this point. Just not sure what the long term affect is going to hold. Had we not got her properly dignosed early on so that we could treat the situation, I'm sure things would be much worse at this point. I decided to have her tested after reading all of the information from other great YTalkers on this board that had posted such good info on liver shunts. Her symptoms were that she would throw up quite often, usually after she ate, and she seemed to sleep more than a normal puppy, and she was very thin and not gaining weight like she should. That was really the only symptoms she had, but I took her to the vet and insisted on a bile acid test, and sure enough, things were not right. My vet then sent me on to Texas A & M were she was dignosed.
There is a great wesite http://livershunt.com with alot of very helpful info on this.
