Hypothyroidism is not very common in toy breeds. Is he gaining weight without eating more? With hypothyroidism the area with hair loss is not itchy, as with allergies and other causes. Usually their sides, tail and back of the back legs are also affected by hair loss. A blood test usually shows a high cholesterol level, but there are specific blood tests to test for thyroid function and then they just take a pill if needed. Lethargy, cold intolerance, anemia, lack of stamina are also sometimes seen.
