Wow, I feel a little jipped (sp?) by this vet.. whom I liked very much.

Thanks for all the suggestions.. I think I am going to ask around and get price quotes from different vets that I get good recommendations about. I also expected it to be around $200-$300.

No one knows of a reasonably priced vet in the Philadelphia area do they?
