UK - A MAN attacked a po l i ce officer by throwing his pet Yorkshire Terrier at her.
The dog flew several feet through the air before hitting WPC Pamela Wilson on the head.
Perth Sheriff Court heard that police were sent to a house in Crieff after a dispute started between Andrew McLellan and his brother.
When the officers arrived, they found McLellan in the bedroom and he confronted them with a volley of verbal abuse.
As they approached him to calm him down, McLellan picked up the small dog and threw it in the face of WPC Wilson.
Hannah Kennedy,prosecuting, told the court that after being struck by the dog, the officer and her colleague arrested McLellan.
McLellan, 35, of Gavelmore Street, Crieff, admitted assault.
The court heard that the officer and the dog were not hurt.
He claimed that the dog had a reputation for biting people and he had been attempting to throw it out of the officer's way.
McLellan was ordered to carry out 125 hours' community service.
