My Tinka tends to bark when she is crated and I am at home. Once when I went upstairs to take a nap she barked for over an hour. I guess she just wants to be with me - but sometimes I need a break! Having another pup does seem to help - she's not as bad when Kaya is in the room with her, even if they are crated seperately. I know she doesn't bark when I leave - I never hear her as I leave or come home. So, she knows when I'm home and wants to be with me.
Maybe you pup is just lonely.
