I had to have the miniscus removed (cartilage cushion) because it was a rare defromity and kept tearing. Also the doc "released" the tendon that goes up the outer side of the knee so my kneecap would go back to the right place. Eventually, the cartilage that is attached to the bones themselves will wear away since the miniscus is gone and I wil have to have a knee replacement at least on that side. It sucks because I'm only 47. I'm going to start on glucosamine with chondroitin to see if it will generate more cartilage, but there haven't been any real studies on it. good luck with your knees!
