Going on a trip for that long - and spending so much of the time going places where he can't go with you - plus it is always nice to really feel "foot loose and fancy free" when you visit places like Disneyland - with no time tables, etc., I would be tempted to leave my pup with the vet.

Since you know he will get good care while you're gone - I can guarantee that you will miss him a lot more than he is going to miss you.

I left my dog for the first time ever (she was 5 years old) once when I went to Mexico for a week. I missed her so much, but I am positive that she was a lot more comfortable staying at home. And, she was excited to see me (ecstatic) for about 10 minutes when I got home, and then she treated me like I had never left. Everything was quickly back to normal as far as she was concerned.

Good luck - hope you have a great vacation!
