I wouldn't take a chance of having my Yorkie fall off somewhere. Maybe you could block the rail spaces with something decorative like plants. A
black net or screen would also do the trick and would be barely visible. Maybe you could ask your fiance if the undisturbed view would sanction the view of a badly hurt or even dead Yorkie.
