I don't even do any that. I just slap a washcloth around my dog and pin it with a diaper pin. I check him often - and if it's the slightest bit damp - I change it. (The washcloth is folded over two or three times before I wrap it around my dog - so there is quite a bit of material there.....)
I have two or three dozen washcothes that are only used for my dog. I just throw them in the wash with the rest of my laundry.
