This probably really is his personality. My dogs love to sleep with me - but they really like to sleep at the foot of the bed, etc.
My Yorkie is the most affectionate, playful, friendly, loveable little guy in the world. But he is not one that wants to cuddle all the time. He would rather lie on the other end of the sofa or lie at my feet on the floor. He and my other dog always want to be with me and be near me, but they don't want to be on top of me.
Stop and think - there really are some advantages to this. My neighbor's Yorkie want to be on her lap constantly, and she said frankly it gets tiring at times. She wants to trade dogs with me. I said, "No - I like my dogs the way they are."
Both my dogs will tolerate cuddling to a point - 10 or 15 minutes - and enjoy it, but then they are off to find their spot at my feet or beside me.
And - they both follow me all over the house. They really do want to be with me no matter where I go.
This is definitely my dogs' personalities - I don't expect much change. But, I love the way they are. I'm a busy person and am up and down a lot. I'm glad that I don't have two little dogs that are whinning because they want me to hold them all the time.
