You're better than me!!! I would've asked for the manager & told him/her how rude their employee is and that NO employee should EVER make a comment like that. It's just plain rude. Even though they're "just" talking about a dog, a lot of people (most of us included) treat our dogs like our kids & that's like saying, "Hey, your kid is ugly." You just don't do it.
