All of my dogs (all my life) have hurt their legs a hundred times. And, almost always they get over it in a day or two. I wouldn't waste my money on a trip to the vet until after a day or two. Even then, if there is improvement, I would probably wait another couple days.
One of my dogs hurt her leg and limped for a day or so - and then it got better - and then she limped again - and it got better again - and then she started limping again.... so after all this, off to the vet we went. And, darn!, she had ruptured her cruciate ligament (knee) -- and had to have a $900 surgery for that. She did this playing and running around in the yard - she twisted her knee the wrong way.
But - anyway - the vet said that my having brought her in sooner would have made no difference. He even wanted to let the swelling go down for another week before he did the surgery....during time which she was on some pain pills.
