you need to keep going back. Because even though this is the fate for millions of dogs every year, the people like you who go and spend time with them make their last while on earth enjoyable. It may be hard for us, but the volunteers are all that these guys have. If you took them on a walk, fed them a treat, or even just pat them on the head, I'm confident that the ones who don't make it die a little bit happier.
