We just came back from a trip to Florida with Mia and had no problems. Even though we usually drive straight through, which is like 20 hours, we made it a 2 day trip and stayed at a hotel on the way. Mia slept when we were driving, which scared me at first because that's a lot of sleeping! But she was fine. We walked her whenever we stopped. There were a lot of pet friendly hotels on the way. In Florida we left Mia in her x pen and put do not disturb sign on the door when we left the room. I also left my cell phone number at the front desk in case anything went wrong. The hotel was okay with it and they did not call. I would say go for it.
