You may never know for sure what is casing the scratching and biting, but Science Diet is pretty low on the list of good foods and is mostly by-products. There are several very good foods out there. Just in case it is the food causing the scratching and biting, look for one without any corn, wheat or dairy products. Merricks, Natural Balance, Solid Gold, Chicken Soup are all very good foods. You will need to go to a pet store (PetsMart, PetCo or PetSuppliesPlus) to find them as they are generally not sold in grocery stores or places like Target, Walmart or Kmart. The good news is they aren't any mor expensive that Science Diet.

Generally you should swtich foods over gradually. Start by mixing some of the new food in with the old and gradually add more and more new food until that is all there is. Good luck.
