Sorry but I think books like this are a bunch of crock. You can't write a book about dog behavior and generalize any more than you can about children. Every dog has his/her own personality and does things for reasons unknown sometimes. I know my dog is happy and she does all of those things. She gets excited as she greets me, she's full of energy all of the time especiallly when we have guests over and she gets loads and loads of kisses and belly rubs. When I see the little stubble waving back and forth like crazy and her little butt up in the air when she wants to play, I know how happy she is. This is why I don't read these kind of books and just observe her behavior to know whether she is happy or not. Just my view though. I'm sure a lot of people respect this guy and that's ok too
