congrats on the upcoming litter...I hope you have a safe and successful whelping that is a very larger litter.

I hope your mentor explained just because you breed down by using a smaller male doesnt guarantee the offspring will be small or even within the standard. You mentioned keeping a female out of this litter, she may only mature to 5-6lbs but genes will carry forward to her offspring, genetics can skip a generation and come back and haunt the next. Its always best to breed like to like and within the standard when ever possible.
