I know how you feel amp... I live in Utica, and have run into the same things you are encountering. Last summer, when I began to seriously research breeders I planned to spend around $700, but now I'm thinking it's going to be more like $1,000. It was so frustrating, but I just started saving as I was researching the breed and now have enough money to get the dog. I'm actually traveling to NJ this weekend to look at some puppies because I've found a really nice woman. I've called some of the listings in our local paper, but I feel like I know more than some of the breeders I've called (and since I've only seriously researched the breed for about a year, that is not a good thing!!) I'm not sure what you have already, but I've found that you need to actually add between $50-$100 onto the price of the dog for puppy supplies like food, dishes, chew toys, crate, etc.
Good luck with your search, and be persistent. Your hard work will pay off soon! |
