Sick after shots I'm so sorry your baby had this problem. My vet also spaced the shots for both of my pups, Bogey 17mo. and Gabey 13mo. If you elect to have the Lyme shot be prepared for that to possibly be the roughest shot given. We live in the woods and have deer all around the property and there is a great deal of Lyme's disease here in Maryland. Therefore, we decided to have both dogs vaccinated. During the first series of shots there are two Lyme shots given a few weeks apart and then a booster each year after. Because Bogey was uncomfortable after the initial shot the vet gave him a small dose of pain killer and advised administering another dose one hour before the second shot. I did the same this year for the booster and it did seem to minimize the reaction in comparison to last year but he was still feverish during the night and had aches and pains, even in his chest for up to 72 hours after the shot. (The vaccine was given in the hip.) I am not looking forward to Gabey having his booster in November. |
