This is a perfect example of how one can read something into what another person said, that was not intended.
Did the party of the first part actually mean what the party of the second part thought she meant, but then recanted when she came under attack? Or was the party of the second part wrong in assumning that the party of the first part meant something that she didn't say. Did she put words into her thought that were not even there.
