Just snip a bit at a time each week. Get as close to the quick as you can without making her bleed... And if you do go too short, just be sure to have some sort of styptic product on hand to stop the bleeding. Eventually the quick will receed and you can keep that nail pretty short.

I cut Pixie's nails after each bath when they're nice and soft from the warm water. The more often you do it, the less you have to take off and the easier it gets. All her nails are nice and short now, they don't even make any clicking noises on the floor!
