I have one that has a cottony coat. Have you tried using the coat handlers shampoo and conditioner? I found that worked good on him and also the Plush Puppy is good. I wasn't real impressed with the Plush Puppy at first but I found the more I have used it the better his coat is to brush.(I have just started using the Plush Puppy this last month).
I also think that using the cc gold series brush has been good for his type of coat. The reason they say not to brush a wet coat is due to the stretching of the hair when you are brushing makes it weaker and will break off. Brushing while it is dry will pull with the tangles and break it off.
I used to blow dry Buckeye (cotton hair), I don't do that any more. I just let him air dry like I do the rest of them. His coat has improved a lot by doing that. I let him sit in a towel and throw a blanket in the dryer for a few minutes to get it warm, then wrap him in that so he doesnt get cold. when he is still damp is when I do the brushing.
