One day when Ruby and I were out on the driveway, she suddenly yelped and pulled her leg up, like it hurt. It was very brief, more like she had been bitten. We have those red ants here, and I just thought it was probably one of them. I know what you mean by scary though, when something like that happens for no apparent reason, it shakes you up. Hope that was the only time this happens to her.
