Default New Owner Training

Hi Everyone:
i am new to this forum and find it VERY insightful. I can't wait to get to know everyone. I have a new yorkie and he is very energetic and very bitey. I am crate training him, meaning that he does not come out of his crate unless he goes potty or for confined play. We use lots of chew toys with him. 2 things I have found that work well are: using the penny shaker when he is chewing or getting bad. It really works and 2: He is very young (12 wks) so we don't take him out yet but I do put his harness and lead on and keep him near me in the kitchen with the lead attached to a chair. It gets him used to the harness and he is relatively confined plus he is so small that there is no risk of bringing the chair down! Also LOTS of positive reinforcement.
