I think they're probably just going to have an occasional scruffle - and would keep an eye on them and not worry too much about it.

I always get in trouble for this - but when I brought my new tiny little Bichon pup home, even before we got in the door, my other older sweet female somehow got hold of the little puppy and threw her 5 or 6 feet out onto the grass. And, the little puppy was turning in circles and crying, and I was frightened to death that she was seriously hurt.

Well - this is the only time in her life that my dog got a spanking. Everything happened so fast - and I was so frightened - and just couldn't let her be that way with the tiny new little puppy. I spanked her and was very very stern with her. I was totally shocked that she behaved that way. I would never have expected it in a million years. This was one bad episode for all three of us. Poor little Dutchess had never heard a cross word in her life, and other than this, never did again.

The end result was that at first she didn't like the new little pup - but never ever hurt it again. And - in only a few weeks, they became fast friends, and stayed that way for years.

I have introduced many new pets into my household (cats and dogs) and they have all become good lifelong friends after a few weeks. But, for the first few weeks, I keep a careful eye on all of them. However, they always seem to work everything out on their own.

Good luck - Carol Jean
