Just because both parents have a straight topline, doesn't mean they aren't recessive carriers for the gene responsible for a roachback. That's why it's so hard to eliminate these genetic faults in a line. You can have a liver shunt baby from two healthy parents that carry the gene. That's why it's so important that you know what's in the lines five generations back before breeding.
I would think that there was some indication at 4 months, but maybe not, and it may have resulted from an injury??????? |
