First of all, I commend you for asking this question and stating your feelings.

If you are not planning on breeding a dog, then it should be spayed/neutered. And if you are planning on breeding the dog, it should be for the right reasons such as improving the breed not breeding because you want to see your dog become a mother. If you are serious about breeding, do your research and do it for the right reasons. Remember, alot of things can go wrong in breeding. Are you prepared to have complications of birth, have puppies die, have the moma dog reject the puppies, lose your dog in the process?? Breeding can be great, but I would never breed them just because they would make a good mother.

Please don't take this the wrong way, I just think it is important that you know this and realize what your motives are and the effects you have from them.
