Exactly.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong here, but I believe that once a female goes through her first heat, her chances of developing mamary cancer go up 50% AND the boys can develop cancers as well (especially if they have a retained testical that hasn't dropped). Having your pet spayed or neutered protects your dog!
Also, I'm not sure if I read your post correctly - are you planning on breeding your puppy someday? Do you have experience breeding? It's not something I would just let 'happen' - it's important that you do your research. Dogs usually have at least 2 or more (sometimes as many as 7) puppies at a time and most people don't keep them - they sell them - so how would the mother see her puppies grow up? Would you keep all the puppies?
