My son does the EXACT same thing!! He just turned 2. The doctor said to either ignore or discipline him by spanking.
He started it about 3 months ago and I always ignore him or walk away and he very rarely does it now. The doc said they can't hurt themselves like that... (i dont know why not though) Good luck! =)
