Hello and welcome!! I have a yorkie who just turned 8 months, and I go to work and school, so he stays alone a few days a week for about 8-9 hours. He has free roam of my room and the kitchen, and when I leave, I just make sure he's got food and water out, and that he's got lots of toys to play with. Dogs sleep a lot during the day, so your little yorkie might end up playing and sleeping a lot! I had SO MUCH anxiety about leaving him all alone - I honestly didnt' think about anything but him for the first couple of times I left him alone. But honestly, he's done fine and I get greeted with LOTS of kisses when I get home! See how he does when you go to your in-laws for a few hours, and between then and the time that your youngest goes to kindergarten, I would run a few errands here and there and get him used to being alone for a few hours at a time.
