Default My first furbaby girl

Before there was Ginger...

A sweet little 6 lb shihtzu came into our lives and stayed for almost 16 years. She ruled the roost around here. She befriended Fritz (my schnauzer) and the two of them became inseperable. But Shelby was in charge. When Fritz passed, she became even closer to me and my husband, always being carried around by one of us. Next, she put up with the puppy (Kirby, who is now 14) and taught him who was boss. She didn't put up with his puppy games . Even when she was a senior, Kirby would circle the house to avoid running right past her with a toy. You could take her outside without a leash, she NEVER wandered off or chased after anything very far. Occasionally she'd see a bunny or squirrel, give a happy little yap and bounce towards it a few feet. As soon as it would move away, she'd turn back to us. Once, I introduced her to the neighbors pet bunny (a large angora), and she nearly climbed right onto my head in fear. My little girl dog, afraid of the scary rabbit! She loved to smell the flowers, and would wander around my flower garden smelling while I worked in the yard. You could often find her with her face buried in this or that plant. Or lying down in the mulch, especially in the shade of some plant. She was definitely a unique and special little dog. It's been 4 years since she left us (right around July 4th) and I still miss her. So, thanks for listening, her are a couple of pics. (in the second, she's with my schnauzer Fritz, he's been gone for a long time now)
