Default Just a quick introduction (I'm a newbie) :newarrow:

Well, since I've been taking advantage of the wealth of knowledge here, I decided I should at least introduce myself.

I'm a long time, die-hard yorkie lover. I was 9 years old when I brought home my first yorkie - brought him home in my coat pocket! Bentley was with me until I was 23 years old. We literally grew up together, and, even today, I miss him as I would any other deceased immediate family member.

Well, I'm 34 years old now and I have a daughter of my own now, and she too loves yorkies. So, two years ago, Santa delivered her very own bundle of fur, Finn. My daughter was only 5 at the time, and my sons were 1 and 2 at the time, so we opted for an average sized yorkie. Finn was kind of an old soul. He never really went through a puppy phase. He also wasn't much of a cuddler, only on his own terms. But he loved my daughter and adored me, and that's all that counted.

After having Finn for a couple years I decided it would be nice to have another yorkie. I'd been wanting a smaller yorkie for quite awhile, and my kids were a little older and used to handling a smaller dog. So, this past April we added another male yorkie, Huck, to our family. We are getting ready to make a major move, and everyone told me I was crazy for getting another dog so close to our move date, but I just felt like it was a great time. Well, just two weeks after Huck arrived, Finn was hit bit a car and killed. Finn had this thing about chasing after bicycles. One morning, my husband opened the door just as a cyclist was passing. Finn spotted it and darted out after it. He and the car collided. Thank the Lord he was not maimed in any way and passed very quickly. Neither the cyclist, nor the driver of the car stopped to offer help. My husband stood in the middle of the street cradling Finn as he died, with our two small sons standing next to him, having seen the whole thing, and they couldn't even stop!

It was a tough time for our family, but I have to say, having Huck was a blessing and did help us all heal, especially the kids. Huck has been a great little pup - such a cuddler - oh my goodness, such a cuddler! He's been very easy to train. Initially he was a bit of a barker, but after a few firm "Nos!", he now almost never barks, only occasionally whines. He's been doing really well with housetraining also. He's not going outside yet, but he goes in his litter box and rarely has accidents.

Aside from being a huge yorkie fan, I'm a 34 year old wife and stay-at-home mother of a 7 year old daughter and 2 sons, aged 3 and 4.

We are getting ready to move, but after we get settled I would like to get another dog. I would really like another yorkie, but my boys want a "big" dog. I don't think a "big" dog is going to happen, but I'm considering a Havanese. We'll see.....

So anyway, that's a little about me. Thanks for all the replies to my posts. This site has been very informative - plus, it's great fun to just read some of the threads. I attached I couple photos. Finn is pictured with the red bow and Huck is the puppy picture.
