So far as general chewing is concerned - it's been covered. Bitter Apple, chew toys, and watching closely. To paraphrase something I read recently - a yorkie that isn't pestering you to death is probably up to something you won't like.
As to biting on fingers, etc. - that's gotta stop. It's cute when they're little puppies. For a very little while. The generally accepted training advice about puppies biting fingers, toes, etc. is to yelp as if you're hurt (sometimes there really isn't any pretense to that), push the puppy away, and ignore her for a few minutes. This is basically copying the behavior she got or would get from her littermates when she would get too aggressive with them. She'll get the idea. After working with Bailey for a while, it has become very rare for her to get carried away and nip at one of us in playing. When she does it now, we can just say "no bite" and she immediately starts licking like crazy, as if to apologize for the nip. |
