Go for it. I own a Gift Gallery and I take Jack (7 months)with me every day. I have a space behind the counter that is about 12' by 12' and he has a bed, toys and a gate so he can't get out into the main showroom. My customers love it that they get greeted by a Yorkie, I even have a step for him so he can watch out the window and see the people come and go. I take him outside every couple of hours for a pee, and he loves the life. I say "lets go to work" and he stands ready for his leash.
Next thing I know he will want a pay check and social security.
I also have a outside cat at the store (she was a drop off) and she will come in with a customer, walk around with them, and then go out again, it is really cute.
