I always take mine out in the yard with me so they get used to hearing them and if they looked at me, I'd just say that it was all right and laugh and go on. They really do pick up on how you react. So, if they see that it really is OK, then they won't be afraid. Muffin wasn't at all scared of them and Kacee walks around in the yard and pays no attention to the sound!
