My dogs have always gone crazy whenever we have company. They can hardly contain themselves when people first come in the house.
Ignoring was the opposite that worked with my dogs. I had to ask everyone who came in to reach down, pet my dogs, and tell them hello. After they were recognized and petted, they would will they settle down almost immediately.
BUT - my little Yorkie is a little more excited. He's so little and so far down that everyone almost has to pick him up and give him a hug - and then put him back down - and he's okay right away.
But - for sure, no one can come here and ignore my dogs. They have to at least say, "hello" --- until then my dogs won't leave them alone.
Good luck! |
