They're some sort of linoleum tile that has little holes all over each of them, making it hard to clean in the best of circumstances. Well, since getting little Guinness a few months back, its only become more and more of a challenge being able to clean properly. Heck, the floor is so bad that we often can't really tell whether its truely clean or not!
This all leads into my next question... since the kitchen would likely be our little guy's space going forward after a remodel, what would be the best floor for a dog in the kitchen... Tile? Linoleum? Something else? I'm sure it wouldn't be wood. I know tile is the highest end floor but I'd worry that the grout might either erode or become very dirty after Guinness does his business too many times on the floor. To add to how much our current floor sucks, tiles have started to come apart/break/curl upward since we've gotten Guinness. I'm assuming its him scratching at the floor combined with the acidity of his pee. Has anyone else experienced this with their floor?
I guess what I'm looking for is an easy to clean and rugged floor that can resist a beating from our little guy... suggestions? |
How long are you and the Mrs. planning on staying in the coop? I don't like the tile, the grout can be sealed after it is installed if you decide to go with that. We have Vynal planks the Congolium it looks like real wood, we like it very well, in our kitchen and family room, however the rest of our home is carpeted, tile in bath rooms, which they are very very cold in the winter

that is why we didn't put it elsewhere. We trained Baby Blessing to use the pee pads. Have you used the pee pads for Guinness, how old is he? It was easy for us to train Baby Blessing, and at first we didn't let her have the run of the house, being home all the time and with her made it very easy to go through the potty training process, we place the pee pads in three locations in our living room and dining room and family room so it is convenient and she is real good about using them.
