My eight year old yorkie/maltese has luxating patella and the vet has tried for years to get me to have the surgery, only reason I haven't it doesn't to seem to bother peanut at all. The vet is the one that was checking him when he was a puppy and told me that he had it, but after all these years no problems... If it were me I would wait and see how your yorkie does with it for awhile...
