Ok, so I am training AprilLove to go potty outside now in addition to the indoor litterbox. (She hasn't had an accident for 5 weeks). I put a cowbell on the door so she can tell me when she needs to go (when I am home of course). My other dogs already have their signals--stand by the door and give me "the look". Anyway, after teaching her ONE time to ring the bell, she caught on. Now how do I get her to know it is for potty and not to go count the blades of grass in the yard???? lol She has me jumping up about every 20 minutes because she is ringing the bell so much. I am proud of her for catching on to that so fast, but I feel like a slave!!! hehe I have been going out with her and giving the potty command and waiting about 5 minutes and if she doesn't go, we come back in. She is just gettting used to going outside and still a little unsure of it. But she will go on command when we just go out when I decide to take her out and not when she rings the bell.
So how do I help her make the distinction between going out to play and going out to potty? any hints?? She is such a little cute stinker, I laugh at myself everytime I realize she has me right where she wants me!!!

p.s. she also goes and rings the bell when she sees the other dogs by the door wanting to come in! so I will let them in, then she gives them big kisses like, hey" I got her to open the door for u! she is so smart
