In my opinion, I would ask your vet. This is what I plan on doing during my first trip to the vet with Gracie. After raising a kitten with immune system problems and repeated infections, I will be most careful with my new little Gracie. You never know what dog has done something where, and what disease that dog might have had. I most fear Parvo and that is certainly nothing to take lightly. If you have a fenced yard and know that no other dogs have been there for a long time, you might be OK. I live in a Townhouse with shared green space. No one potties their dogs in their "own yard", always somewhere else. Gracie won't be going outside until the vet says it is OK.
