Dixie needs a quieter home of one or two adults NO KIDS and maybe another small quiet dog companion. Someone who is home most of the day and evening. My household is too hectic for her and she's not comfortable with anyone else in my family. She is the perfect lap dog. She wants to be snuggled in your lap all the time and she is a little shadow, wherever you go, she's right there with you. I love her to pieces, but I have to consider what is best for her. She is definitely a one-person dog. When I adopted her I was told that she was great with kids and very friendly and that she was doggy door trained. What I found out was that she is shy. She was breeding stock that had two litters, one by C-section and one prematurely--puppies died, so, she was taken out of the breeding program and put up for adoption. She was also debarked. That is all of her past that I know. She did bond with me within a few days of getting her and she is very affectionate with me, but like I said she is reserved with the rest of the family. She is in perfect health. She just needs a routine dental and to be spayed. She is up to date on her shots including rabies and wormings. She is not fully housebroken yet, she is getting the hang of it. I have her on a regular feeding and going outside schedule. I am using crate training with her. She loves her "cookies" and she knows if she goes outside and does her business she gets a cookie when we come in. She's very motivated by cookies. I've taught her the basic commands sit, stay, come, down and she also knows "give me five" and "speak". She can be a little stubborn, but lower your voice a little and she will listen. She does the cutest thing when she's happy...SHE SMILES!!! A full smile, all teeth showing. It's one of the things most endearing about her and makes her very special. She is a very sensitive girl and needs gentle, but firm correction. She shows her emotions very well too, you would almost think she was human...especially when she has her piggy tails in! I do dress her up in little outfits, I must confess. She just looks so darn cute! She likes to go in the car with you and is really good. She hardly barks at all. Please feel free to ask me any questions about Dixie. I have pictures that I can email of her.

I have worked hard with Dixie since I got her and she has overcome her little quirks for those of you who remember the problems I was having with her a few months ago. She has really blossomed into a great little lap love. I hate having to give her up, but she really is a one person dog and to fulfill her true potential and happiness she needs and deserves that one on one, her being the center of someone's world. I have kids and other dogs that she's not happy about sharing me with. She's not aggressive, just sad about sharing me. If you think you can give Dixie a happy and fulfilling home, please contact me either by phone or email. Thanks.
